Doric
GUBI
The Doric Table reinterprets the features of Classical architecture, characterized by restraint, symmetry, and simplicity, while extending the studio’s material exploration into the aesthetic and functional possibilities of limestone.
The unique shape of the legs is created by subtracting material from a simple form, making them rigid and formal, yet unexpectedly light and soft with decorative elements.
By recontextualizing this single architectural detail in a piece of furniture, Doric Table succeed in imbuing the design with a sense of history that counterbalances its unmistakably modern appearance.
