Mask Kvadrat
Milan Fair, Italy
This project mainly used ancient tribunal masks by wrapping them with Kvadrat’s textiles.
Multiple versions of masks were created using these two distinct variants and each of them were placed and facing the center of the space. This allowed adding another level of tension to the surrounding atmosphere.

We wanted to create an installation using a single element, completely made of textile. The repetition will create a playful installation, as well focus on the textiles and present the new colours. Textile is the “mask” of a furniture, it changes its personality or make it act in an unexpected way. We play with the iconic shape and expression of ancient mask. Masks are not only used in ceremonies, which is a very ancient human practice from different cultures, masks are different meaning for protection or rituals as well used as ornamentation and different performance. Our aim was to emphasize the celebration of textile through this antique tradition.

The exhibition took place in Milan. We aimed to create an imposing atmosphere by repetitively arranging masks within the space. The delicate Kvadrat fabric color chips we selected softened the overall mood of the space.
